Flea and Tick Treatment
The markers on the map indicate vets who are familiar with the PETS Pet Travel Scheme.
Cost and Timing of Treatment
Costs are highly variable with some vets charging as little as €20 whilst others are well in excess of €100.
Most failures to meet the conditions of the Pet Passport are because of incorrect timings in administering the flea and tick treatment. It must be given and time-stamped at least 24 hours before travelling and less than 48 hours. These timings are totally inflexible.
Documentation
It is the owner's responsibility to ensure that all paperwork is correctly completed; transport companies have disclaimers that they will not be held responsible for any costs incurred by faulty paperwork.
Pre-Book Your Appointment
When making your travel plans take into account that many vets are closed on Sundays, and that there are regional public holidays in addition to the national holidays.
To minimise risk and expensive mistakes pre-book your appointment and confirm it by fax or email.
